WHO WE ARE HIRING: System Monitoring Specialist WHAT YOU WILL DO: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Systems Monitoring Specialist with expertise in New Relic, AWS CloudWatch, GuardDuty, and familiarity with Lacework. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of implementing, optimizing, and maintaining infrastructure system monitoring solutions. The candidate will perform day-to-day system monitoring functions and make recommendations to IT Operations for system maintenance necessary to remediate system monitoring findings. The System Monitoring Specialist will define and present proactive system monitoring policy and procedures ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our systems for our clients. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: New Relic Configuration and Optimization: Configure, manage, and optimize New Relic to monitor application performance, infrastructure, and user experience. Develop system performance reports consistent with SLAs language regarding system performance contractual requirements. Demonstrated experience working with New Relic Agents, Platform, issues and alerts, New Relic Query Language (NRQL), working with metrics and setting service levels, application logs from Java to New Relic One. AWS CloudWatch and GuardDuty: Utilize AWS CloudWatch for monitoring and managing AWS resources, ensuring high availability and performance. Implement and oversee AWS GuardDuty for threat detection and response. Report daily on any spikes in system performance. This includes all spikes exceeding thresholds for performance of CPU, Application I/O statements, network bandwidth, Database utilization and storage, VPN tunnels with AWS Cloud. Provider recommendations and information to IT production support team Follow thru and assist IT operations team in planning and implementing system maintenance that will remediate all findings from system performance monitoring and reporting. Review all published patches and updates from AWS. Follow thru and assist IT Operations in planning scheduling and implementing all system and security patches and releases as documented from AWS. Ensure HTG does not fall behind and fall off support of aging versions of software. Network and Security Monitoring: Take day-to-day accountability for network and security monitoring, proactively identifying issues. Issues include identification of security risks, and vulnerabilities. Maintain PoAMs that identify all network and security risks found during proactive system monitoring. Follow thru with IT Operations to ensure PoAMs are planned and scheduled for remediation and system modifications are implemented. Produce security reports consistent with client contractual requirements. Implement and maintain tools to monitor and manage security and network infrastructure. Client-Facing Responsibilities: Participate in client discussions to understand system performance requirements and the clients expectations for system performance monitoring and reporting. Ensure successful client delivery by performing day to day proactive system performance monitoring, reporting of findings, and follow thru with IT Operations for systems maintenance to remediate risks and issues. Collaboration: Work cross functionally with IT Operation including DevOps, DBA, and network/security teams to ensure findings and reporting of outcomes from proactive system monitoring are acted upon and system maintenance is planned and executed. This includes ensuring that client communications are made prior to and after system performance maintenance occurs. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a system performance monitoring specialist. Hands-on expertise in New Relic configuration, optimization, query writing, and report generation. In-depth knowledge of AWS services including EC2 and EKS structure. Experience with CloudWatch and GuardDuty. Knowledge of Lacework for cloud security and compliance. Experience with Java, Spring, Spring Cloud CI/CD tools- Jenkins, Kubernetes SOAP and RESTful webservices MongoDB and PostgreSQL Proficiency with Agile Methodologies Strong understanding of network and security monitoring best practices. Excellent communication skills for client interactions and cross-functional collaboration. DESIRED SKILLS: Relevant certifications (e.g., New Relic Certified Performance Pro, AWS Certified Security Specialty) are a plus. EDUCATION and CERTIFICATION: Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred Certifications relevant to system performance monitoring. New Relic Certified Performance Pro preferred. AWS Certified Security Specialty) a plus.
