Job description Summary: The Sanitation Supervisor oversees the sanitation function to ensure compliance with all Company, industry, quality management programs and food safety systems, such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), SPC (Statistical Process Control), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in support of the plants Quality Assurance & Food Safety department. Responsibility includes the management of activities for the safety, integrity, legality and quality of our food products. Directs activities of leads and team members with strong emphasis placed on employee development, performance expectations, and ensuring proper training as it relates to their job function. Provides training and coaching which will allow employees to perform at their best and deliver results in a continuous process improvement environment. Schedules adequate staffing to ensure sanitation operations are complete on a timely basis. Coordinates work schedules with maintenance and production departments for the required maintenance of equipment and facilities. Supervises operations to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulations, as well as Company safety policies, procedures and standards. Maintains GMP provisions and monitors employee practices that relate to cleanliness, sanitation, and pest control. Maintains a supply of cleaning chemicals necessary for operation of the cleaning program in compliance with OSHA and FDA regulations. Develops and implements new methods, procedures, and systems to improve sanitation performance. Responsible for the development, implementation, documentation, training and on-going improvement of the sanitation program in support of the plants BRC certification. Ensures all equipment is maintained and operated according to established sanitary and housekeeping standards, to highest efficiency necessary. Works closely with Quality Department to ensure product quality and food safety. Understands the manufacturing system and is able to both use and train employees on the proper disassembly, cleaning, and reassembly of all equipment. Ensures that safety policies are adhered to by enforcing the use of proper safety equipment, PPE and safety procedures. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within area of responsibility. (e.g. HACCP, Safety, GMPs, Color Code Policy, Knife Policy, etc.) Manages the waste water and sanitation closet (chemical cage): oversees chemical purchases small parts & supplies inventories, and establishes control processes for inventories, overuse or waste. Maintains positive employee relations by providing a people-oriented work environment designed to motivate employees and reduce turnover. Ensures fast reaction & responses to sanitation calls, contamination or other issues to minimize downtime. Oversees, reviews, and modifies sanitation programs to improve cleaning efficiencies & determine labor standards through the use of Total Productive Maintenance philosophies. Oversees environmental programs. Actively participates in all plant safety, health and environment initiatives with responsibility for sanitation related TPM pillar. Will also promote safety and housekeeping initiatives by engaging employees in TPM process. Communicates Safety, Quality, and Food Safety policies to all employees and ensures such policies are followed by all employees. Supports, and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, preventative sanitation/maintenance programs and legality. Communicates Safety, Quality, and Food Safety policies to all employees. Ensures such policies are applied by all employees. Incorporates and champions GMPs and plant cleanliness among all plant workers. Implements and monitors overall production performance and quality standards and ensure objectives are established, documented, monitored, and reviewed. Ensure non-conformities identified in quality programs are addressed and corrected. Other duties as assigned. Must possess previous experience in a food manufacturing environment Previous supervisory experience Eligibility: Current employees will only be considered for the position if they: Provide evidence that they possess the required qualifications and capabilities to perform the essential job duties of the job. Have been employed with the Company for at least six (3) months and have been in their current position at least six (3) months. Have no progressive counseling including written warnings in the past six (6) months; and, Are in compliance with the Attendance Policy.
