The Role Provide technical direction in the creation, delivery, and integration of network automation implementations across a complex network. This will require a strong understanding of Layer 2 & Layer 3 network protocols. A strong understanding of Lumens network product offerings and how they interact within Lumens network will be required. A working level understanding of software development methodologies including an expert level development experience. May translate network requirements into specific designs and/or participate in the design, evaluation, and selection of software solutions for network automation. Establish the current and future use of practice, metrics and methodologies to determine current and future solutions. Explore and evaluate new and approved technologies. Consult on the application of existing and new, approved technologies to develop solutions. Ensure the process of creation and delivery of design and solution in accordance with architectural direction. The Main Responsibilities A strong understanding of network technologies including Internet, ethernet and IPVN. Strong know Layer 2 “ knowledge of ethernet switching equipment and switching architectures used on Lumens Internet networks. Expert level experience with protocols used on Lumens Internet networks- BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, BFD and LLDP, and their use. Detailed experience in BGP route policy and the redistribution of routes between protocols. Strong understanding of Ansible and its use in server and network configurations. Strong expertise in the Java programing language. Working knowledge of Python and Groovy. Experience in using or building Cloud architectures, including virtualization, containerization, and APIs. Consistently show the ability to mentor others in the production of all artifacts. Able to influence the work of others to drive medium & large projects to successful completion. Ability to be a force multiplier in the way you can lead teams through complex problems. Ability to mentor others in the business processes implemented in the team’s applications to provide resolution to support problems. Effectively categorize support problems and respond with the appropriate level of urgency. Hands on with coding practices on multiple applications preferably multiple functional areas using various technologies. Working knowledge of Swagger and OpenAPI standard. Working experience in documenting and using REST APIs. Ability to architect solutions for the business problem which maybe beyond their own applications. Collaborate and influence architects and operations team members to make the projects a success from inception to delivery. What We Look For in a Candidate Consulting Level Bachelor’s degree with typically with 8+ years of experience. 6+ years of experience with Master’s Degree.
