Job Summary: The Intermediate Remote Sensing Analyst plays a crucial role in coordinating and overseeing GIS and remote sensing-based data capture and analysis projects. With advanced knowledge of software tools and scientific scripting languages, the Intermediate Analyst contributes to the successful implementation of spatial modeling, algorithm development, and image processing tasks. This role involves database management, report preparation, field data integration, and code modification to automate complex tasks. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Location: Vallejo, CA Job Classification: Permanent, full-time employee with benefits Duties/Responsibilities: Coordinate and oversee GIS and Remote Sensing based data capture and analysis projects. Utilize software tools such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, Imagine, GRASS, GDAL, eCognition, ENVI/IDL, Geomatica, R, MATLAB, and other scientific model and scripting languages for spatial modeling, algorithm development, and image processing. Perform digital image pre-processing tasks including geo-registration, orthorectification, and atmospheric/radiometric correction. Manage databases, prepare reports, review ancillary GIS data, and conduct technical transfer of analysis systems and processes. Provide requested data to end-users via GIS database or hard copy products. Perform spatial and tabular queries, import/export data, and manipulate/edit scripts using GIS and remote sensing software. Assist with field data integration, accuracy assessment, and hardware/software setup. Modify code in R, MATLAB, ENVI IDL, Python, EML, EASI, VB.Net, C/C++, C#, and Java to automate tasks. Develop pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and multi-temporal data analysis algorithms for multispectral, hyperspectral, and LiDAR datasets. Conduct field work, including collecting terrestrial LiDAR samples within assigned geographic locations. Create and maintain documentation for enduring projects, including models, programming support projects, tools, algorithms, and complex scripts. Required Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in software tools such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, Imagine, GRASS, GDAL, eCognition, ENVI/IDL, Geomatica, R, MATLAB, and scientific scripting languages. Strong proficiency in performing spatial and tabular queries, importing/exporting data, and manipulating/editing scripts in GIS and remote sensing software. Knowledge of pattern recognition, anomaly detection, and multi-temporal data analysis algorithms for multispectral, hyperspectral, and LiDAR datasets. Ability to conduct fieldwork and collect terrestrial LiDAR samples. Strong documentation and organizational skills for maintaining project documentation. Education and Experience: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, Forestry, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Soils, Geology, Hydrology, Geography, or Earth Science. Preferred: Master’s degree in GIS or Remote Sensing preferred. Five years (5) of extensive experience in a field requiring the use of GIS and remote sensing tools. Experience in spatial modeling, algorithm development, and digital image processing. Experience in field data integration, accuracy assessment, and hardware/software setup. Emergency Response: Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
