Job Description AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Structural Engineer for the Transportation team in the Greater Pennsylvania area to support our bridge inspection practice in Conshohocken, and Mechanicsburg, PA. Job Summary This position will involve a combination of office and field work, performing bridge load rating analysis and hands-on inspection of bridge structures throughout the region. Load rating analysis tasks will include the use of commercial bridge analysis software, as well as occasional finite element modeling. Inspection tasks will include hands-on field observation of a variety of structural systems and documentation of defects. This position is a gateway to a rewarding career that will provide opportunities for professional and technical growth, as well as career advancement. AECOM often wins contracts to inspect and analyze some of the most complex and interesting long-span bridges in the area, although we also inspect vast numbers of less complex bridges. This important role offers participation in a variety of challenging projects and a dynamic work environment due to the number, type, and size of bridges that make up the vast portfolio of the experienced bridge group this engineer will be joining. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: Builds analytic and design skills. Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer. * Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems. Structural analysis of bridges. Working in the field performing hands-on bridge safety inspections. Significant amount of office responsibilities which include developing load rating calculations and models, field inspection reports, bridge repair recommendations and repair schemes, and cost estimates. Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. Valid Drivers License and must be able to pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records review. Preferred Qualifications Strong communication skills. 1-2 cycles of relevant internship experience is a plus. Proficient in MS Office Suite. FE/EIT (any state) Demonstrate effective time management, task prioritization, and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work productively in a team environment. Professionalism in verbal and written communications. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities/work schedules. Receptive to comments and direction provided by others.
