Position Purpose: The Director of Application Development is a key leadership position in our Technology team, directly reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, Hancock Claims and will be directly responsible for managing all Developers to support Web Apps, CRM & Service Automation (Salesforce Platform). This role is responsible for Solutioning, Delivery and support of all Hancock applications and is expected to manage a hybrid team of Onsite/Onshore and Offshore developers and associated DevOps Processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Implements world class CRM Solutions (500 plus users) and B2b/B2C websites with high transaction volume and traffic. Leads the team in developing Salesforce APEX Language/ Java/Spring/HTML based software to web/mobile applications and integrations with external systems. Contributes to the development of all CRM and Web Applications tactical plans. Responsible for the accurate and efficient forecasting and allocations of resources required to meet objectives. Leads and mentors a dynamic team of individuals who constantly search for creative ways to elevate the capabilities of technology systems to meet business needs, partly by capitalizing on emerging technologies and partly by adapting technologies to the needs of the customer. Provides directions to include staff development and training, budget management, feasibility studies, delegation, project and resources control, teamwork coordination, and project team constructive feedback as it pertains to individual, project or overall program performance. Maintains effective, productive, and professional working relationships with internal and external customers, third party vendors, project management office, relationship managers, and governance organizations in accomplishing project objectives. Takes the lead on various development activities such as designing and developing specific business components, integrations, or larger parts of the solution. Monitors and reports on the status of multiple concurrent project efforts; proactively reviews and interprets performance against operating plans and standards; Provides information and reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in plans; presents reports on project performance, changes, enhancements, scope variations, and other related matters and/or participates in key management activities and committees advising IS senior management and business unit project sponsors accordingly. Provides technical leadership and mentoring of other members of the team. Reviews code and organizes development tasks for the development team. Qualifications: Must have Masters degree with 10 years of progressive management experience OR Bachelors Degree and 15 years of Progressive management experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline with an Information Technology focus. Must have 15 years of progressive experience in positions performing applications development for CRM and e-Commerce applications. with 10 years of Progressive management experience or Must have min of 5 years of experience working in any CRM, 3 of the 5 years should be with Salesforce Platform. Must have 8 years of experience with the following: Managing technical teams to develop eCommerce websites Leading teams that perform software development using Java EE Utilizing the following: Transactional and multi-threaded processes Unit testing techniques and frameworks Spring framework Design patterns and N-Tiers architectures with Java / J2EE Any RDBMS like Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server Distributed version control systems including SVN and Git Build automation tools including Ant, Maven and Gradle System integrations including using JMS, web services (REST), or ETL tools Understanding of application performance tuning Agile methods including Scrum Web/mobile application development HTML/CSS/JavaScript/Ajax Preferences: Standard preferences Work Schedule: Mondays thru Fridays, 9:00am to 6:00pm (approximate) Schedule may change according to business operational needs to include weekend hours Hybrid- WFH on Mondays and Fridays. Environmental Factors: Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment Possibility of travel to locations outside of the office environment Physical Skills and Abilities: Ability to stand, walk, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10 to 50 pounds Ability to bend, squat, and reach above shoulders Hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity including ability to grasp and operate equipment Visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment, and read technical information Company Conformance Statement: In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following: Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
